Bio por José María Imbert
Of Italian nationality, born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on November 7th, 1974. Victoria´s main disciplines are architecture, photography and cultural management. She first became interested in photography when she studied architecture at Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), at the end of the 1990s, in the Dominican Republic, later achieving a postgrad degree in Project Management in Santo Domingo (2004). Prior to this experience, she had had the opportunity of learning from friends at the University of New Mexico by helping with the development of photographic films. In 2005/06, while living in Barcelona and completing a Master's Degree in Interior Design, a Postgrad in Urban Planning and a specialization in Goldsmithing. Ten years later, in 2016, she was awarded with a scholarship to study at the Lens School of Visual Arts in their Master's Degree in Auteur Photography Projects program in Madrid, where she currently still resides.
From 2011 to 2016 she also garnered docent experience while teaching photography as part of the curriculums for Architecture, Interior Design and Medicine at UNPHU and where she organized and implemented a photography workshop for young people within the framework of the ENEFA under the title "Arquitectura e Inclusión: Ciudad de Todos" (Architecture and Inclusion: City of All (Oct. 2012)). She has also collaborated as a jury member for the photo contest ZOODOM (2014), UNPHU (2012) and the National Book Fair (2011).
Her works have been exhibited in group exhibitions in countries such as the United States, Cuba, Panama, Brazil, Spain, Italy and the Dominican Republic; the latter in places such as the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), FUNGLODE, Theater House (“Casa de Teatro”), PhotoImagen 2010, 2012 and 2014, as well as biennales such as the Biennial of Architecture and The Visual Arts Biennial, Centro León, Centro de la Imagen, Alliance Française, Museo de la Altagracia, Consistorial Palace of Santiago, among others. She is part of several collectives, among them "Escritura del Espacio", where she merges her career and her passion and "Pictoria Newhouse" which was selected to participate in Trasatlántica 2016, within the framework of PhotoEspaña 2017.
Victoria is not only satisfied with the art of photography, she also experiments with conceptual art that includes installations, video, sculpture, amongst other manifestations of the visual arts. She also ventures into the management of cultural projects and currently is undergoing studies for a Masters at La Fábrica de Dirección de Proyectos Culturales in Madrid, Spain.
